The Palace of Fine Arts

This is one of my most favorite spots in San Francisco (other than the fantastic view of the Golden Gate bridge from the Marin highlands, of course!). I make sure I visit this wonderful monument every time I am in the city; especially in the evenings when the lights give it a beautiful glow. Located within close proximity to the golden gate bridge, it is one of the few structures in the city that have been around for almost a century. Although the structure was built in 1915, it was demolished and rebuilt in the 1960s with better materials to ensure that it lives on for future generations.
